By setting a goal that you truly want to achieve you will develop unstoppable mental focus and productivity. Make a decision what it is that you want to achieve. Paint a picture in your mind of the outcome that you are looking to achieve. Then write out your goal. Commit to achieving your goal by a set date.
By writing out your goal and setting a date, you are committing to achieving it. You are giving yourself a subconscious command.
Productivity comes easily to those who are focused on their goals.
The key is to have a worthy goal. When you have a worthy goal that you are determined to achieve, productivity becomes second nature.
This is where your focus, drive and ambition to achieve your goal comes from. Productivity is the engine of desire.

"People who stay focused the longest, win."Dan Pena
Having a magnificent goal gives you the focus to execute on your strategy. This is what all great business minds have in common. The ability to develop a laser like focus on the execution of a planned strategy that you know is exactly what is required to reach your goal is critical. This is a key understanding and when you realize that this is what separates those who do and those who don't, then you have in your grasp, the holy grail of business or personal success.
As Dan Pena the famous mentor puts it "People who stay focused the longest, win." When you understand this, then you begin to fully appreciate the importance of focus. This is the common thread that runs through all great success stories down through the centuries.
As the great philosopher G. Halliwell said, "Tell me what you want, what you really really want"?!Geri Halliwell

This is a critical ingredient in the overall effort to develop focus and productivity. What is the purpose of your goal? Is it part of a life vision, a bite sized part, or is it a monthly work goal? They are both the same when it comes to your desire to accomplishing your goal. Would putting together 12 monthly work goals lead to a promotion? Would accomplishing a monthly work goal fulfill the purpose of realizing a greatly enhanced year-end sales or department bonus?
Wants and desires are connected by discipline. You must have discipline. Focus and Productivity are natural components of this thing we call discipline. Natural by-products if you will. Discipline is driven by our desire to achieve our goal. It all boils down to what we really want, what we really desire. Is it strong enough? If it is, then we will have the necessary discipline and by extension, the focus and productivity.
Our ability to complete the task or goal is dependent on our Mindset. This is of vital importance. This is the number one reason that stops a person from starting. They think they cannot achieve their goal. This is the main barrier to success or goal achievement in life. This is the number one reason why people fail to live their lives. They don't believe they have the ability to succeed. This is the unspoken reason for unrealized dreams, be they business, personal or sporting goals. Success is 95% Mindset and 5% Strategy.
Is your goal part of an overall vision or a standalone goal? Both are very easily used to motivate you to succeed in accomplishing your goal. As a standalone goal it is usually very easy to develop a clarity of purpose as there is usually a time essential element to consider as time is an excellent motivator. However, if you have set yourself a goal to achieve that is part of an overall vision that is a quarterly or even yearly project, staying on track can be highly motivating if the outcome is highly desired. A planner is usually very helpful in staying focused on objectives achieved as this allows a visual update on your progress.
A wall planner, whiteboard or a simple excel spreadsheet can be extremely useful tools.
Reward yourself. Acknowledge your progress. This is an extremely important concept to understand as it reinforces your progress and speaks directly to both your conscious and subconscious minds. The dean of mentors Earl Nightingale was passionate in his belief that "success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal." It is all about the journey, not the destination which will determine the outcome. If you are steady in your progress towards your goal, you are a success. This is the very definition of success. You are progressing. There is nothing else required. You will reach your destination because you are moving towards it with purposeful intent.
Everything in life starts when you make a decision. Especially goal setting and achieving. Everything stops if we don't start. Starting requires making a decision that you are going to achieve your goal and not stop until you do. There is a guaranteed way of ensuring that you start. Don't aim for a goal that does not inspire you. Aim for a goal that excites, inspires and scares you all at the same time. Aim for a goal that will help you grow as a person on your journey to achieving that goal. Choose a goal that will help others on your way to helping you. These are the best goals of all. Don't settle for something that you know you can achieve. Where is the inspiration in that? Really go for it. What do you really want deep down?
Develop a passion or even an obsession with achieving your goal. This is the secret sauce. A goal that gets your adrenaline going just thinking about it. A goal that you lie awake at night thinking about. A goal that you think about when you wake up in the morning. This is what life is about. It is about personal growth. This is what goals are about. They are a vehicle for personal development. So why waste your time with uninspiring goals? Being brave is a lifestyle. Live a life with dreams and goals that you are progressively achieving every day. What a great way to live.
They say that "You're the average of the five people you spend most time with." This is attributed to the motivational speaker Jim Rohn. I don't subscribe to this 100% even if there is a strong element of truth to it. It is true if you allow those people to determine your thinking. What if you don't? What if you are in control of your own thinking and choose not to allow anyone else to influence your direction and momentum in life. This is all about the inner game of how you think. Are you internally set up to achieve your goal? What would this feel like?
This is what a goal based on crystal clear clarity of purpose and intent feels like. This is what a goal based on helping others, that has a personal foundation of pure inspiration, excitement, adrenaline that is worthy of you, feels like. Focus and productivity will come automatically when all these ingredients are brought together in a goal that is worthy of you.
